Tour Overview

This 3 day luxury Kruger safari delivers the full majesty of South Africa's greatest wildlife destination in a compact, perfectly paced itinerary. Starting and ending in Johannesburg, the package transfers you swiftly into the heart of the Greater Kruger National Park — a vast, wild landscape spanning nearly 20,000 km² and home to Africa's most celebrated Big Five populations.

You'll stay in a hand-picked luxury bush lodge within or bordering the reserve, where expert rangers and trackers lead morning and evening game drives across diverse terrain — riverine forest, open grassland, rocky kopjes, and ancient marula woodland. Kruger's staggering wildlife density means Big Five sightings are the norm rather than the exception: lion prides, breeding herds of elephant, elusive leopard, white and black rhino, and massive buffalo dagga-boys are regular encounters. The park is also home to African wild dog — one of the continent's most endangered and thrilling predators to observe.

Beyond the game drives, the luxury lodge experience brings the African bush to life after dark — boma dinners under a canopy of stars, the distant call of lions drifting across the night, and the sense of deep stillness that only the African wilderness can provide. This is a safari designed for those who want the very best of South Africa in three unforgettable days.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg Arrival & Transfer to Kruger

Arrive at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, where your Tazama representative meets you for a private transfer. Fly or drive northeast to the Greater Kruger area — one of the world's great wildlife sanctuaries and home to Africa's most iconic Big Five country. Check in to your luxury lodge in time for a late afternoon sunset game drive across the bushveld. As dusk falls, listen to the sounds of the African night — lions calling in the distance, hyenas whooping, and the rustle of nightjars in the thicket. Return to the lodge for a candlelit dinner and a welcome briefing from your ranger before an early night ahead of tomorrow's dawn drive.

Day 2: Kruger National Park — Full Day of Game Drives

A full day dedicated to Kruger — South Africa's flagship national park and one of the largest game reserves on the continent at nearly 20,000 km². Rise before dawn for the morning game drive, when predators are most active and the golden light of sunrise floods the bushveld. Your expert ranger reads the landscape with precision — tracking a leopard from its pugmarks, positioning the vehicle for the perfect lion sighting, or pausing silently as a breeding herd of elephants crosses the road ahead. The Kruger Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo — roam freely across the reserve in some of the highest densities anywhere in Africa. Return to the lodge for a lavish bush breakfast before a midday rest at the pool. The afternoon game drive ventures into different terrain, seeking wild dog packs, cheetah, and the painted landscapes of the Lowveld at dusk. A spectacular boma dinner under the African stars brings the day to a perfect close.

Day 3: Final Morning Drive & Return to Johannesburg

One final sunrise game drive — often the most memorable of the safari as the bush awakens and predators finish their night's activity. Return to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast before checking out and transferring back to Johannesburg. Your Tazama driver will have you at O.R. Tambo International Airport in comfortable time for your onward or return flight. Alternatively, if your flight departs late, your guide can arrange a stop in Johannesburg — visit the Apartheid Museum, explore the vibrant Maboneng Precinct, or browse the world-class craft markets of Rosebank before heading to the airport.
