Tour Overview
This 6-day mid-range luxury safari in Tanzania blends classic game drives with the excitement of guided walking excursions — offering a richer, more personal immersion in the African wilderness. Visiting four of the country’s premier wildlife destinations—Tarangire, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara—this itinerary is designed for travelers seeking an experience that goes beyond typical vehicle-based safaris.
Included are two expert-led walking safaris: one in Tarangire National Park and another in the Serengeti, each accompanied by an armed ranger and your knowledgeable Tazama guide. On foot, you’ll uncover what vehicle safaris often miss—animal footprints, healing plants, bird songs, and the authentic rhythm of the bush at eye level. The journey sweeps across the elephant-dotted landscapes of Tarangire, the vast Serengeti plains where big cats roam and the Great Migration unfolds, the Ngorongoro Crater—the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a premier Big Five destination—and Lake Manyara, renowned for its tree-climbing lions and flamingos, one of Tanzania’s most rewarding off-the-beaten-path treasures.
Accommodation is handpicked at mid-luxury lodges and tented camps that combine comfort with prime locations, placing you right in the midst of the action. With small groups limited to 8 guests, you’ll enjoy a personalized, unhurried journey from beginning to end.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park — Walking Safari & Game Drive
Depart early for Tarangire National Park — famous for Africa's highest density of elephants and its ancient baobab-studded landscape. Begin with a morning game drive along the Tarangire River corridor, where herds of 300+ elephants congregate in the dry season alongside buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and a dazzling array of raptors and waterbirds. After lunch at camp, embark on a guided walking safari with an armed ranger and your Tazama guide — read animal tracks in the sand, identify medicinal plants used by Maasai healers, and experience the bush at human scale. Sundowners in the bush before returning to camp for dinner under the stars.

Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti — Full-Day Drive & Afternoon Game Drive
An early departure takes you northwest through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and onto the Serengeti. Enter the park through the Naabi Hill Gate — your first sight of the Serengeti's endless golden plains is a moment that stays with you forever. Begin game driving immediately as you navigate to your camp in the Seronera valley, one of Africa's finest year-round wildlife areas. Look out for resident lion prides, leopards resting in fever trees, cheetahs scanning the open plains, and the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra that form the Great Migration. Settle into your tented camp for a well-earned dinner.

Day 4: Serengeti — Full Day Game Drive & Walking Safari
A full day dedicated to the Serengeti — the jewel of Tanzania's safari circuit. Morning and afternoon game drives with a midday walking safari that puts you at ground level in the savannah. Your armed ranger and guide lead you through open grassland, reading the stories written in the soil: the knuckle print of a lion, a dung beetle navigating perfectly by the Milky Way, a termite mound home to an entire underground ecosystem. The Serengeti walking experience is intimate, unhurried, and profoundly different from anything a vehicle can offer. Return to camp for a final Serengeti sunset from your private veranda.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater — Full-Day Game Drive
Drive south from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at the crater rim in time to descend into Africa's most extraordinary natural enclosure. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera — a self-contained ecosystem 20km across and 600m deep, home to Africa's densest concentration of wildlife including all of the Big Five. Spend the full day on the crater floor: scan the Lerai forest for elephant and leopard, watch lions sleep on the open soda flats, and seek out the endangered black rhino that roam freely here. Picnic lunch beside the flamingo-lined shallows of Lake Magadi before ascending to your crater-rim lodge for dinner with views across the ancient caldera.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park & Return to Arusha
Descend from the Ngorongoro rim for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park — one of Tanzania's most underrated gems. The park is famed for its tree-climbing lions (found nowhere else in Africa), vast flocks of flamingos wading in the alkaline lake, and dense populations of elephant and buffalo in the groundwater forest. Ernest Hemingway called the view over Lake Manyara 'the loveliest I had seen in Africa'. Enjoy a final picnic lunch in the park before the scenic two-hour drive back to Arusha, arriving in time for your onward connection from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Your Tazama guide will transfer you directly to the airport.
